After 4 days of relativeisolation on the Otrago Central Rail Trail, we decided to head for the bright city lights for a change and drove the 2 hrs to Oamaru on the east coast. We checked in to the hideously overpriced and cramped campsite in town, had a quick shower then headed out for a night "on the town". So the plan is we're looking for a nice meal - local caught fish perhaps ? ? Then on to live music at the famous "Penguin Club" down b...

Just a note to say to everyone that we're fine. We were 450km away from the earthquake and weren't even aware of it until 24hrs after it happened. We were going to add a blog today about our Ortego rail cycle ride but out of respect for the dead & injured we'll do that some other time. We were very lucky but many weren't.
