WHERE VIV'S AT...
Well, Pamukkale certainly earns it's name as a wonder of the world, the beauty of this place is truly amazing and really hard to describe. I made it up late afternoon afternoon and watched the sun set, then went to see the Hierapolis ruins by night.
I took the bus from Marmaris to Pamukkale - the buses in Turkey are great, they are cheap, comfortable and run on time. However, the bus stations are a nightmare - really, really busy with no directions or idea where to catch the bus. I arrived at Denizli bus station and was immediately lost, so many thanks to the kind old man who spoke no English but upon seeing my back pack guessed I was on my way to Pamukkale and put me on the right dolmus. Once I arrived in the village I started to look for a place to stay and was approached by a guy on a scooter who insisted I stay at his familie's pansiyon so me + big backpack and no crash helmet gets on back of scooter and he races off through the village. The pansiyon was great 10YTL for the night (about £4) and my hostess was lovely and cooked the best fresh trout I've ever tasted and did my washing, her English was ok so we sat in the evening and had a chat about the merits (or lack of merits) of men - wonderful. The next morning I was sad to leave but found myself back on that scooter to catch the next bus.
