WHERE VIV'S AT...
Morning folks
So, here I am, my final city in Oz - Adelaide. Fell asleep (finally) on the train whilst we were travelling at high speed through the red barren desert and in the morning woke-up to the green fields of SA and savoured the last part of The Ghan's journey here to SA's main city.
Darcey met me at the station and it was great to see a familiar face and then drove me through the city to their lovely house in the Western suburbs. And Jenny and Darcey have made me feel very welcome indeed.
Have had time this morning to have a look around and must say it all seems very nice here. I think Adelaide city itself looks a lot like a smaller, quieter and cleaner version of London city - there's a lot of the same kind of architecture here so it feels very familiar and must say I've felt quite at home wandering around the streets this morning. We're in winter now but it's not really that cold - more like our autumn.
So I've got a few things planned whilst here. This weekend we're hitting the Barossa Valley to sample a "few" wines and I think we're going to stay there on Saturday night to get two days' worth of tasting in (so lovely drunken stuff then). And on Monday I'm going on another 4WD tour for 3 days to Kangeroo Island (bring on the penguins). Also trying to get up to the Flinders Ranges to do some walking but need to suss this out and then next Saturday Jenny and Darcey are taking me to see the Adelaide Crows play at home - my first live AFL game and I can't wait for that. Oh and also I think there's a few world cup footie games on which Jenny and Darcey are following so bound to see some of this at last (but of course I have to cheer for the Socceroos). So yep lots planned and looking forward to it all.
Well sorry to say that's about it for now - this was purely a quickie as I just really wanted to update my site's front page location but for some reason I have to do a postcard for this to happen.
