We've had a very chilled out 5 days in Koh Phangnan. We came across on the ferry and hadn't booked any accommodation so we were pleased to find Coral Bungalows which is really nice and also cheap. It has got its own pool, restuarant, bar, health and beauty salon and internet cafe so its got everything we need right here, no need to leave!
On the second day after we arrived we just chilled by the pool reading all the books we got from Bangkok. After attempting to tan we decided it was time to pamper ourselves and so went and got manicures and pedicures in the beauty salon. That evening we had a nice meal in the restaurant and as they were throwing a pool party we decided to join in the fun.
The next day we decided to head into Had Rin town and do some shopping. Britt managed to restrain herself but Harri couldn't help herself and got a new dress and some flip flops. We then went into the sun for a few more hours before deciding it was time for an oil massge. After the Thai massage last time we felt this was a safer option! It was a good choice as we felt lovely and relaxed afterwards. That evening was the Half Moon Party and so we decided to give it another go. We went for drinks in the bar and got pulled into a drinking game with lots of other people (mainly Irish!) which got us into the party mood. We covered ourselves in luminous body paint and then all squeezed into a thai taxi (a van with no roof or back). We were then suprised to find that the Half Moon Party was not on the beach like Full Moon was, it was in the jungle! Although unforutnately we didn't spot any monkeys. It was a good night and we met some nice (interesting) people.
The next day we attempted a nice long walk on the stunning beaches here but soon gave up and went back to sunbathing once again. There was another pool party that evening and were planning to go but our nap turned into a full blown sleep.
Today we woke up with the intention of hiring motorcycles and going round the island. We soon realised this wasn't going to happen when we heard torrential rain outside. When it stopped we decided to take the opportunity to jet-ski. We had lots of fun trying to control it and seeing how fast we could go without hurting ourselves or falling off. The water was a lovely turquoise colour and we saw some flying fish. Our timekleeping skills weren't very good as the guy had to get on his own jet ski to find us waving his bright orange flags around! We then met up with two Irish girls and two German guys and headed to the beach at Had Rin. It started to rain once again when we got there, so as everyone else was running to the beach bars for cover naturally we decided to go for a swim. After our dip in the sea we decided to head for the famous mushy mount. We were inspired by Bridget Jones and wanted to see what it was like! We went to a dodgy bar owned by a lady who resembled a mushroom herself! After ordering our mushroom shakes we grabbed a cushion each and looked at the beautiful view of the beach. When our drinks arrived we were pleasantly suprised to find they tasted of strawberries. After enjoying our drinks we headed to a beach bar that played friends and ordered some food.
Tomorrow morning we're leaving early to catch the boat to Koh Tao where we've signed up to do a 4-day PADI scuba diving course. We're sad to leave this beautiful, chilled-out island but really looking forward to diving!
