Roman Pottery Museum, Amphoralis, in Salleles-d'Aude
The Romans brought 2 important things with them to Gaul. The first was their wine culture. Wine grew well in southern France, & was exported back to Rome. For this they needed "amphores". We visited this incredible museum that explained how the Romans made these earthenware vessels. This is a reconstruction of an oven used by the Romans to make "amphores", storage jars for grain or wine.
