This small town was located at the bottom of the Sacred Way, a road that was built by French soldiers. They continually loaded the road with rock to ensure that the wagons filled with ammunition, mines, & food, could get through to Verdun, the HQ of the French army, located in the Citadelle, an underground labyrinth by the river.
