We met our guide, Elizabeth from Context Travel, here. This was a fascinating way to get Florence's complicated history. The "priori" or city council, met in this building, in 2 month shifts (like Siena). Eventually, under the grand duke Cosimo, Florence "owned" the rest of Tuscany.
