"Hagar Quim" or "Worshipping Stones", a prehistoric temple
We started Saturday morning at a temple that dates from 3600-3200 BC. Malta was first settled in 5200 BC by stone age hunters from Sicily (the Sciani, who were related to the Iberians). Supposedly they had dwarf hippos & elephants. They disappeared in 2500 BC. This "moquette" shows how they positioned the gates for the various stoltices. The temple was made of limestone, which is readily available in Malta.
