Excavations at Keesbury in 2015 revealed a Viking age settlement...
or at least a farmstead from the 9th-11th century. Vikings used the Ouse River as a way to to access northern England. In 866, Anglican York (Eforwic) soon became "Jorvik, the focus of Viking rule.
