I absolutely LOVED Byron Bay!! It's probably the most chilled out place I've ever been, people are just so cool and friendly and it's full of kinda typical stereotypical Aussie surfers! We arrived about 11am and after a 12.5 hour coach journey we wanted to get out and about and search for food, so we checked into the hostel and then got changed and went straight out. We had a wander around and found steak and chips for $10 in this nice little pub on the main road. It was really nice and we got to people watch and see the surroundings. We then went to the beach on the first day we arrived, it was kinda cool as there was a bit of an overcast but we were fine in shorts and tshirts, we just chilled on the beach and watched the many, many surfers! That evening we went to a party at one of the travel operators - PeterPans Travel. It was take your own drink, and we played drinking games such as flip cup etx, met loads of cool people and generally just had fun! We then moved on to cheeky monkeys bar, we got free drinks and a free meal which was pretty cool too! We partied the night away there and it was such a fun night! The next day we went to the beach, picking up a picnic and loads of goodies along the way! We spent the day there which was really fun and nice to chill out properly, the sun was shining and there weren't any clouds so it was beautiful, perfect beach weather. That night we went for a nice meal at a cute little pizza/pasta bar. It was really nice food and we treated ourselves to a few cheeky mojitos! We then went to check out a surfers bar called 'Woodies'. This bar was full of most the locals from the area, proper surfer types! On a Wednesday they have a surfboard giveaway so it attracts lots of people! Once we had adjusted to looking out of place it was actually a pretty fun night and we had lots of laughs, the music was really good
Too! The next day we had another beaut beach day, the sea however was very cold so we happily just stayed sunbathing on the beach! We then and went and booked our trips/plans for the rest of our trip... We sat for ages planning what we wanted to do and where we wanted to visit, so it was nice to personalise our trip and plan it out! We got changed and then went back to peterpans for a BBQ and drinking games, hitting cheekys again later on! Another fun filled night, the sore heads the next day were not fun though!! On our last day in Byron we went and collected all of our documents from PP's and then we left our luggage and went for a wander around the shops and visited A little burger place to taste 'the worlds best burger' as recommended to us by some people we met! It was nice, not sure it was the best in the world though!
We then went back to get our stuff and hopped on the bus to head to our next destination ... surfers paradise! We're looking forward to seeing what surfers has to offer and I will try and update when I can! It's going to be hard to live up to Byron though as it really is an amazing place and it's easy to see why people get caught in the 'Byron bubble' and never leave... If only!! X
