Vang Vieng 1st May - 5th May 2012

At the beginning Vang Vieng seemed like a stupid idea - Bart was on antibiotics that he could not drink on and all my mossie bites very infected so I was allowed to go in the river, so the first few days we chilled and then we headed out on a motorbike loop for the day but I didn't make it very far. I burnt my leg on the exhaust of Barts bike and then drove to the blue lagoon where we went swimming and then we went into a massive cave but I fell over twice so decided that the safest thing for me to do was to drive the motorbike back and sit in the hammock waiting for the 3rd bad thing of the day to happen. Lol. So bart went on the rest of the loop on his own. That evening we bumped into Gordon, Jackie and Lachy and arranged to go tubing with them the following day as my infection had cleared up but Bart just decided to drink on his antibiotics. So the following day we woke up had some lunch and headed to get our tubes we met the others at the first bar. They were with another girl called Sarah who I met on the kayaking trip in the 4000 islands, which was odd. We headed down the river for a day of tubing, drinking, swinging of ropes, zip lining and going down big slides. After we got the boat back to hand our tube back in by 8pm, we all went back to our guesthouses to get showered and changed before meeting back up and we headed out for a curry and then onto Bucket bar. Jackie and Gordon convinced Bart and I to stay for another day as there was a rocket festival, where the locals make there own rockets and fire them into the mountains to welcome the rainy season. It was a crazy day of drinking and lots of rockets, in the evening we headed back to the bars for the last time as we were all getting the bus together to Luang Prabang the following morning. The night got very messy - I think that's enough said really but those who have been to Vang Vieng can imagine what happens when you spend the night in a tree house in smile bar.
