Off we set by bus from the highest capital city in the world, La Paz to visit the highest navigable lake in the world, Lake Titicaca. It was only a 4 hour journey, 1 hour of which was getting out of La Paz. The journey itself was as scenic as ever. 3 hours in and we had to get off the coach to cross a lake. So here we are in Sucre - 'The white city'. Nothing to do with sugar it just has lots of white buildings and is named after the General who promoted its independence. . All very Spanish like so many South American cities. Ok let's get the factoids out of the way. Sucre is technically the capital of Bolivia. It has a population of just over 200,000. The Supreme Court for the land sits here. However La Paz with a population of 1.5 million is the 'real' capital. ...

The bus ride to Potosi was uneventful. Except that we had to sit in different seats. The booking offices here don't use computers. They have a sheet of A4 for each bus. If they lose it then they can easily sell the same seats twice as in this case. We were pretty much the only foreigners on the bus.
