When you look at a map of New Zealand, one thing that jumps out is the number of national parks and reserves. On the North Island alone, I counted at least 14. A guesstimate would be at least 10 of the island is preserved. The last two days, we've been riding through or near two of these parks - Tongariro National Park and Whanganui National Park. Thoughs on the first days of cycling in New Zealand... If you don't like the weather now, just wait a minute.
