Now THAT was a bus journey. Left Buenos Aires at quarter past 7 last night, and rolled into Mendoza at 9am this morning. But more of that later. Hola amigos, hope life´s peachy? Now Friday night, cream-crackered after just getting in from a cheeky jaunt over the water. Caught a fast ferry over to Colonia in Uruguay, only an hour away, early this morning, and got chatting to a real nice girl called Lisa from Toronto. She´s in Buenos Aires for a few weeks on a volunteer project, working with super-poor kids in some day-care centre in the city centre, then jets off to Israel to work for the Jerusalem Post....

Jekyll and Hyde or what? Saw the cool side of the city yesterday, Thursday. Thought at one point it was seriously going the way of the pear though. Busy, bustling and frenetic - and that was just the dude who tried to bundle me into an illegal cab when we got out of Buenos Aires arrivals. That´s the easy bit done... couple of hours to Madrid, crammed into the window seat next to Giant Haystacks. He looked like a duvet stuffed into a jam jar - less cakes, more exercise methinks mate. Madrid Barajas airport is well smart - even the loos are super shiny and you feel like you´re taking a leak in some classy Soho restaurant rather than a public convenience. And the mega-buffed glass floors everywhere mean you can actually see more than you bargained ...
