Across the straits. lights from towers or Derricks shine way. Interestingly, I was reading how the Derrick was invented by a man called Thomas Derrick in the late 1500's. His original invention was purely for executions, including in 1601 the Earl of Essex, who had himself pardoned Derrick (a convicted murderer) on the condition he took on the role of executioner for Elizabeth I. I would guess Essex regretted that one.
