Believe it or not, its the shadow on my arm, with a bit of ultra contrast treatment. Actually, what we see is only our own interpretation of light waves, so this view might well be that as seen by say, a cockroach (had one been present). In fact, this is all tied up with "the hard problem". Consciousness, what is it?, how does it happen?, it is a "thing"? etc etc etc....
