I found myself examining medieval walls, fascinated by how time had worn the surface into various map like patterns (see example above and to the right of the head shadow). Some people find this type of activity a waste of time but my view is that judging how people spend their time is just another way of spending time, and I am personally not going to judge anyone's use of time as more or less useful than any other.
