20 June 2014 - Grotesque Art With An Aural Surprise
As noted, the Spanish have a knack of producing various art forms incorporating either the absurd, the grotesque or other types of ugliness, but it is all nonetheless appreciated by me in that it does, in some way, generate a response. Atop the cliff at Gijon we came across this giant sculpture, which at first glance looked like a classic piece from the post modernist school of brutalism. In fact, as TG posed for the snap (where I cleverly but unintentionally decapitated the piece), she pointed out how the shape funneled and amplified the sound of the waves below to an astonishing degree, sending you into an instant "marine reverie" as you might call it. Well done to whoever the artist was.
