Although we used sat-nav, we frequently went off-piste, using what the Spanish call "curiosidad natural" or natural curiosity. On this occasion, we followed a winding track up into the hills into an area called the "vilar de silva covas", where we paused at a mirador. After this stop, we didn't realise it, but a giant and hideous horsefly-cum-wasp creature got access to the car and tried to bite TG's neck. There was a lot of screaming and flapping, but we managed to get the blighter out and I think he was badly wounded.
