Today we set sail from Portsmouth, bound for Santander across the Bay of Biscay. Our ship was the French registered ferry "Cap Finistere". One of things that dawned on me late in life was that Finistere means land's end. In fact the Ferry's route goes within a few hundred yards of the French coast at the similarly named Finistère.
