Alpha Tower is the tall building to the left, with the BT Tower further back to the right. My mother worked in the building for a number of years in the 70's and 80's. For a while, myself, my brother and mother and father all worked in Birmingham City Centre. My father would bring us to and from work. For the return journey, he would do a circuit of the City Centre, starting at his factory in Gooch Street, going via Alpha Tower, then onto Davenports Brewery, where me and my brother worked as unskilled labourers doing various things on the bottling lines. It was eventually an imperative to leave that line of work for health reasons, since there was a tacit understanding that the line workers would also drink the products they were dealing with. I remember that the killer line was Davenport's Gold Label Barley Wine, where the days seem to just fly by...
