On 27 May, I snapped an old Alvis near Warwick and I noted the fact that it was manufactured in Coventry. Today, walking around the vintage car show in St Helier, I was struck by how many makes did in fact come from Coventry, including Hillmans, Jaguars, Standards and Triumphs. There also this little known make, Lea Francis. Mind you, I understand Britain now makes more cars than it has done for 30 years and this year we are due to export more than we import.
