It is quite extraordinary that George Nugent's body lay undiscovered for 82 years at this spot. George would have died trying to defend the gains made by blowing up the german trenches on that day, July 1st 1916. As I have said the whole thing was possibly more symbolic than material, but it is of some comfort that George's remains were accorded appropraite respect.
