05 August 2012 - Barnetus Absurdus (Part Two)
An unusual family trait is known as cliff hair syndrome, or alternatively, hair cliff disease or simply "hair cliff" (Latin: Barnetus Absurdus). When fully manifested, its effect can be both striking and obvious. Worse cases are often seen on Sunday mornings, after a heavy night "on the tiles" when a very deep, relaxed sleep and a lengthy static repose combine to effectively "set" the hair in a particular configuration. In fact, the effect has been present in our family since at least the 19th century (see next page for photographic evidence) and possibly even before. As can be seen here and unlike other medical syndromes, the effect may be accompanied by a positive mood.
