England being an Island (except for the Scots and Welsh bits) the coast a big part of the nation's character, its heritage, its folklore and, to be sure, its very essence. I think all citizens of Britain should value and cherish this asset and one way of fulfilling this is to walk the coastal path. This can be done piecemeal, which is what I am doing, or in longer stretches, if that is preferred. Today’s route, as shown above in red, is in Dorset. In fact, some of the above “red route” was walked as a result of an accidental deviation from the real coastal path, hence its northern meanderings through Kingston and Corfe Castle. Despite the navigational error, it was very satisfying and I took the accompanying exhaustion to be a legitimate excuse to eat and drink freely that evening.
