Our first match was Hungary Vs Spain. I don't understand the rules of water polo, so it was all a bit confusing. I said to Jeremy "I wish that idiot constantly blowing the whistle would stop". He pointed out it was actually the match referee who was doing the whistle blowing, since the game is characterised by a constant stream of violations. I'm glad to say the Spaniards won and later, the Australians beat the Russians. Again, I was behind the Aussies. In these politically correct times, I am going to desist from explaining the reason for my partisanship. However, I will say it has something to do with citizens of some parts of the world displaying a lot more cynicism than they do humour.
