He's only gone and done it again, in the Olympic road time trial - this was the moment of the presentation of his gold medal at Hampton Court. Like Phelps, Wiggins is clearly a special bloke - unaffected, honest and utterly down to earth and yet, as a sportsman, he is simply supreme. I watched the whole race, with his effortless style and smooth rhythm belying the fact that, on the day, no-one was faster than him. He said after the race, with his own brand of humility and understatement "All in ten days. The Tour, and now this. I'll never top that, will I?"
