So it's been a week and a few days here in Melbourne, sorry it took me that long to make a post, but I had to get internet sorted, figure everything out, and get settled in! But I have arrived and I can say already I love it! The location is definitely the best part. It's right between the farmer's market and uni. Right off the market is the CBD (Central business district) which is basically downtown and it has free tram rides all the way down to the Yarra River! The markets are my favorite because they have everything you could imagine and more!
My roommate is from New Caledonia (a french speaking island between Fiji and Sydney! (Look it up because it's one of the PRETTIEST places ive ever seen pictures of. She speaks english very well and is a first year at uni! We get along great since one of the first things she told me was that she learned english from the show Friends (instant BFFs obviously!)
My apartment is really nice too. Not the biggest, but it has everything I need! There's a full sized fridge, half oven, half stove, half dishwasher, a microwave, and a sink. When I arrived in my room, sheets, one of each kitchen utensil, one small plate, one big plate, one bowl, and one pot and one skillet were provided. It definitely makes me keep up with my dishes since I only have one of everything! The building has a nice roof with chairs and tables, a barbecue, and a hammock. I love eating my dinners up on the roof and using the barbie (short for barbecue, they shorten everything here) to cook! They have professional cleaners that come clean it everyday, which is really nice!
There was a night called White Night in the city of Melb last Saturday and there were so many people in town! Streets were closed down, there was art being projected onto the buildings, and it was a lot of fun! Not many locals go and it's a big international event to kind of show what Melb is about!
Classes started today and they weren't awful! I like my teachers and I think I'm really going to enjoy my subjects! I'll definitely be doing the "study" in study abroad so don't you guys worry back home (:
I'll update again when more interesting stuff is happening besides classes, so cheers for now!
