We are all pretty tired tonight! Classic example of having real human emotions and being affected by environmental factors no matter where in the world you are!
We still hauled our asses off (good on us!) to the Plaza del Campo in Siena and pretty much discovered that all the offerings in this particular Piazza were pretty steep! Probably 2-3 times more exxy than anywhere we have been so far (well, me anyway). I ordered a 1/2 litre of Chianti from the region and low and behold: it came outta a big brown box! (See blog pics from Siena). Don't get me wrong, it was still delicious. Just not very 'Tuscany'. I expect a lot now and Costa Pizza Restaurant just didn't deliver for me! My Pesto gnocchi was rubbery: the worst kind. Must admit, Robyn and Mikes meals were superb (pappardelle and beef ragout and fillet of beef with Porchini mushrooms respectively). But, there just wasn't the finesse and charm we have become accustomed to so far! No extras; bread in bag (or basket), no Olio or Vinegar, robotic service, filthy facilities, no quaint touches...just a meal. Good, but not great. (Well, not even good for me!). Come to expect great, nee, fantabulous things from Italian food. This stuff was Lygon Street standard, at best! Oh well. As I said, we were tired and grumpy. That's life...
At least we're living it!
Early night and reassess the next few days over a hearty buffet brekkie inside our Convent Accommodation! Pretty unique!
Zzzzzzzzzzz! Goodnight! X
PS: Still living the dream, just keeping it real!
