Airlie Beach-Whitsunday Islands
Howdy, After leaving the Cattle station it was finally full steam ahead to Airlie Beach so I could jump aboard a sailing boat for 3 days to see the beautiful Whitsundays islands. So thats what I did.
I had one night in Airlie Beach before the Bon Voyage the next day. After a big Briefing basically saying to buy Sun Cream Water and 2 times as much alcohol as you normally would drink, we set sail on a small boat with nearly 50 people and a hell of a lot of alcohol! Might I just add though Nanny and other concerning people that I did not buy much alcohol because I felt I needed a good break and detox for 3 days. The whether was perfect! Boiling sun and a calm relaxing sea breeze to just fall into deep thoughts and dreams to. I am not going to say too much about Whitsundays because it was a very simple three days, up early, sun bathe on boat, snorkel to see coral reef and amazing fish, sail more to see cool islands and sail back for a couple more hours, eat , drink, sleep on our private island at night and do the same tomorrow, paradise! I cant say I made very good friends on the boat, but I didnt really try, I was quite happy to relax in paradise for three days, and that was that.
I then had to catch the bus the very next day to get closer to Cairns, where my flight was leaving from very soon.
Magnetic Island
The furthest I could get to on that bus was townsville that day. I also was given the option to jump on a ferry with the Oz Bus driver and other Oz passengers to stay on Magnetic Island for the night before I continued to Cairns in the morning. So I went for it, sounded better than staying in dingy city for a night.
I ended up meeting up with a friend there by coincidence right from the first day In surf camp. I will use this time to mention how many times and coincidences I have had so far! I have now met 2 people from Bedford in completely different countries who knew each other. I have kept bumping into people along the coast who I had met on different occasions, especially two or three people who I had bumped into literally 4 or five times randomly, and In an internet cafe in Airlie Beach I saw two silouettes of people peeping through the glass window to check prices, and as I looked closer I began to recognise these people. It was David and Doreen from Thailand who I said goodbye to at Singapore airport the day I arrived in Australia! We were all gobsmacked to have seen each other like that! I invited them both to go for a drink and catch up. We had a great time catching up over a jug of beer and were still shocked to have met again like that! We said bye again til next time.
This friend of mine I met called Laura on Magnetic Island had now become like a really good friend of mine from the days we had been in a group together in the early days of Oz, so it was great to see a friendly face again. We partied that night and said final goodbye until England. Then I carried on to Cairns with a girl who I met through Laura last night.
Croc farm and Cairns Next!
