After arriving back from the Pantanal and settling into our room - lucky it was free with our tour because i´m not sure either of us could have come to the paying the price for what it was - it was off for some tea. Sheepish to admit that McDonalds was our pick. However Phil now wants a Smurf. I´m guessing their must be a new Smurf movie?
Heading back to our room we were pleasantly surprised to find that although the room wasn´t great we both had the best sleep we had had for a number of nights. Complete darkness and quiet and even Phil slept in past 9am!!
Next day it was off to try and find a souvenir from the Pantanal. We were to be disappointed again. Not only didn´t we manage it from the Amazon but nothing very good for the Pantanal either. Maybe we are just being too picky?
We then organised the bus to Foz de Iguazu. 15 hours and $105R each about $75AUS. Not sure about the buses but we had heard that the Brazilian buses were pretty special and as it turns out they weren´t wrong but unfortunately for us not in a good way.
Basically wiled the afternoon away on the internet, before finding a great hamburger place, oh my god I don´t think I needed to eat for about 2 days it was that huge and the beer, Skol, is actually quite good and cheap. It also comes in big bottles of up to 1 litre which we have noticed most people share. Kind of nice really.
Also in complete contrast to Bolivia everyone eats and drinks outside. I'm guessing because the weather is so nice in the mid to high 20´s.
We also got to see some street entertainment. Each time the traffic light goes red a guy comes into the intersection and juggles before asking for donations as the lights go green. Probably deserves a bit of danger money as when the cars take off they go at speed!
So at 6pm it was off to the bus station for our overnight bus to Iguazu. . . .
