Awake in bed contemplating last 2 weeks which I know will fly by. At least we have managed to avoid the worlds earthquakes (well just in Chiang mai) wars, and floods, I hear another quake in java. Off to Nong khai today after a bit of a balls up yesterday, booked nice resort hotel in phu rua national park but due to bad address from, poor communication with bus company, they speak very little English here in NE Thailand, we missed the place and ended up In motel type place in Loei. It turns out to be a very friendly town with good restaurants and bars so had good time last night but mouth still suffering from their local food which is very very spicy I got chilli mouth tina got chilli arse he he.
Internet not that great here and been lazy on the blog front since in Thailand so will have to try and remember last 1 weeks.
One night in Bangkok was as is. Met Daniel as hostel near his work, left lot of luggage at hostel to pick up on return on 19th april. We tried to book train to Chiang mai but full so decided to fly. Googled clean rooms and booked garden guest house, clean my arse read Tina s blog. So 4 days in CM .I went on an elephant mahout day learning how to look after elephants, getting kissed by one, washing then in a pond, riding on their neck and directing them with commands and a hefty boot to the ear although i kind of think their trainer was the one in control. All in all a fabulous day but boy did my thighs ache so topped off with a good old massage dinner and bed. Tina had a relaxing day blogging and not having to put up with me!
Hired a moto the next day, quite scary negotiating traffic on busy highway with Tina on the back having hardly ever ridden a motorbike in my life. Went to waterfalls which was a great hike up 10 stages of the fall I think tina was glad to get to the top. Then on to botanical gardens which were amazing but did not have enough time to see it all and it involved a great deal of hill walking. Anyway got back to Chiang mai safely before dark. Did day of temples and wats around CM good cultural day. Next day left for Chiang rai on bus. Enjoyed CM hostel not good though, owner spent all day on computer, room dirty not cleaned at all while there not even emptying bin in loo yuk staff odd to sat the least, met Paul ( Yorkshire) Sharon (aus) on elephant trip then later in Irish pub to watch England footy boring game. Liked CM bit big but nice town. Ok better get this bus to Nong khai will continue later hope to have better Internet connection so can put on photos.
