The greatest performer of all-time hailed from Memphis, the KING as he would become known as had a humble beginning from a fairly poor background and was a twin, his brother was a still born child.
Walking around Graceland was not unlike visiting the JFK assassination spot, intriguing but slightly eerie, the house remains as it was during the time he passed away, only several adjoining building have been added to fill with the hundreds if not thousands of silver, gold and platinum record awards, guitars, costumes, music and movie memorabilia. The most humbling part was primly visiting his grave, which alongside him was his parents and a monument for his brother. I wanted to take a picture but it felt really inappropriate and I think it's just one if those things that are best left as a memory. I wouldn't like someone taking photographs of my friends or family resting place.
Overall a great experience, then we went to the famous (within music lovers knowledge) Sun Studio. If you've seen the Johnny Cash movie that the studio he wandered into and start his career as did Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Milton, Carl Perkins and countless other magnificent blues and rock artists, included U2 in the 1990's when they recorded several track for there Album "rattle n hum".
So we stood on the exact spot Elvis recorded his first single!!!! Crazy ol world!!!
