After Woomera we travelled across to Roxeby Downs, quite a busy community, based on uranium mining. We had heard about the hot artesian spa included in the swimming pool complex in Bedourie 166 km north of Birdsville and decided as this was on the way we would head there. Woomera is situated up the Stuart Highway, in desert South Australia. For a small isolated community it has featured widely in Australian and world press. Originally the home of Australia's space program and more recently as a detention centre.

Mt Gambier is home to the Blue Lake. The lake turns a vivid blue at a certain times of the year. A great benefit of the Blue Lake is that it is very accessible, being right in town. The lake also has walking paths around the perimeter to enable all aspects of the lake to be seen.

The Great Ocean Road winds and twists from the south of Melbourne across to South Australia. It is one of the most picturesque areas of Australia and has untamed vegetation and wildlife, combined with breathtaking scenery. While the weather was overcast and quite drizzly we were lucky that it generally cleared enough when needed, so that we were able to enjoy the attractions and snap off some photos.
