It is believed a troll (Hestmannen) shot his arrow at a hot chick (Lekamoya) he was chasing but realised he would not be able to catch. The troll King (Somma) saved the girl by throwing his hat in front of the arrow. The hole through the mountain represents the arrow hole through the hat.
