Quistreham Beach near Caen, code named Sword the location of the British landing, is no longer a battle field but a very attractive and well used bathing beach. Behind this beach is Gun Batterie Site Hillman, captured early in the fighting by parratroop division the 1st Battalion of the Suffolk Regiment. This was close to where British footsoldiers encountered a German Panzar tank division, suffering huge casulties.
