Ramses built the temple to honour a couple of gods, Ra, Amun, Ptah and of course himself placing 4 statues of himself to guard the entrance. Both this and the Hathor temple would have been flooded by the rising waters of Lake Nassar when the Nile was damed. Fortunately the UN came to the party and moved the whole lot in the 1960's.,
