Hi everyone!
We hope you are all well and enjoyed the great British summer! Apologies for the lack of blog activity over the last three months...although we´re sure you´ll let us off when you read what we have been up to! Brace yourselves, this is a big one!!
So, rewind about two and a half months to mid May when we began our Oz adventure. A couple of days in Kakadu National park, near Darwin, gave us our fix of all things Oz...a river cruise complete with jumping crocodiles; bush tucker and a lesson in aboriginal culture. Next stop Ayres Rock and Kings Canyon....both absolutely awesome and definately one of the highlights on our trip so far. Slept under the stars in the outback before waking up for sunrise at Ayres Rock (check out the awesome pics...although you probably looked at them two months ago when we uploaded them!). From Alice Springs we hit Sydney in time to celebrate Sparrow and AM´s birthdays...both of which were great, fun times had by all. Two weeks in Sydders saw us climb the harbour bridge, chill out n Bondi, watch Lady GaGa in VIP (thanks AM!), hold the sydney olymic torch and eat our body weigh in Hurricanes food (an amazing rib and steak restaurant...we managed to order five times from there in two weeks!).
We bid Sydders fairwell and started our east coast escapade from Cairns in the company of two awesome english girls, our COMPANIONS, who we then travelled with for all of Oz and NZ. So here´´s quick run down of east coast shinanigans...
* Trip to Cape Tribulation and Port Douglas, just north of Cairns. An amazing place where the Daintree Rain forest (the oldest in the world) meets the Great Barrier Reef.
* Scuba diving in the Great Barrier Reef...incredible.
* Playtime with crocs and Koalas at the MAgnetic Island animal sanctuary
* Sailing trip around the gorgeous Whitsunday Islands....frolics on the beautiful Whitehaven beach. more scuba diving and snorkielling. An awesome three days with a great group on people.
* Staying a cattle ranch, learning to muster goats, crack a whip, ride a bull and lassooing, all in a days work!
* Fraser Island: 11 backpackers + 4x4 jeep + world´s largest sand island+ dingos+ camping+ party hats= carnage! fun times had by all!
* Byron Bay: surfers, watching whales and dolphins on their annual northern migration and a trip to hippie town Nimbin topped of with crazy Canada celebrations....lots of red paint and giggles. Great times (do you see a theme developing here?!)
* Back to Sydney to surprise AM at work. Time to chill with AM and Irish Dad before heading to Fiji.
So......
Fiji. AMAZIMG! WOW. LOVED EVERY MINUTE! Definately one of our favourite places to date. Beautiful beaches, crystal waters, white sand, sunshine.....paradise. After a week of bula dancing, laughing with the incredible local people and fellow backpackers, we reluctantly left Mana Island feeling on top of the world and most definately on Fiji Time!
After such great times in Oz and Fiji, Nz had a lot to live up to.......it DIDNT DISAPPOINT!
In Auckland we boarded the Kiwi Experience bus, which was to become our family home for the next six weeks. Ginny our wicked bus driver took us on an awesome tour on The Island of The Long White Cloud.....
*Bathing in natural thermal springs
*Climbing the worlds fastest moving glacier, Franz Joseph
* Watching traditional Maori dance
* Sky diving from 15000 feet over Lake Wanaka and Mount Cook
* Bungy jumping from 134m (higher than the Sydney Harbour Bridge)
* Skiing in Coronet Peak, Queenstown
* Building bunk beds for free accomodation!!
6 weeks of non-stop giggles and fun times thanks to our fellow Kiwi experience passengers...aka the family, or farno.
So, here we are in South America on the final leg of our world tour. We landed in Chile last week and after spending a few days exploring Santiago we have made our way up the Chilean coast. We hit Peru in two days, where we are looking forward to visiting Colca Canyon, Nazca Lines and of course treking the Inca Trail. From there we´ll cross into Bolivia to venture into the Amazon rainforest, cycle the world´s most dangerous road and journey across the world´´s largest salt flats. From there we will head to Buenos Aires, for all things Argentina, tango dancing, steak restaurants and red wine will be high on the agenda! We´´ll cross into Brazil via Iguacu Falls, possiblly a quick hop into Paraguay, for our final few weeks to sun ourselves on Brazils beaches, climb Sugar Loaf Moutnain and of course to celebrate KB´s birthday.
So as you can see, we´ve been pretty busy having the time of our lives!!! And we´re afraid we cant promise that there will be antoher update before we get home in December!!
However, we do hope you are all well and we´ll look forward to seein you at Christmas!
Lots of Love xx
