It was an early morning yet again. I only had about 4 hours sleep but I suppose I was rested enough for the day. Peter was heading back to Lisbon and I was making my way to Copenhagen.
The trip to the airport went smoothly. I did end up with a stand by ticket. I'm not sure how that happened but when I questioned one of the stewards she said that the flight was overbooked. They did get me a seat eventually but I was concerned that I would have to wait until the next flight.
I arrived in Copenhagen. The flight was good but I'm very very surprised that in this day and age that people don't know how to cover their mouths when coughing or sneezing. The person sitting next to me kept coughing without covering his mouth. I wanted to say something but didn't have the nerve. Instead, I subtly covered my face with my shirt when he coughed. Did he get the hint? No! I really hope I don't get sick this week.
It was great to catch up with my friend, Christian. We relaxed a little before heading out. Our first stop was The Little Mermaid. A bronze statue popular with the tourists.
Next, we headed to city center and took in a few sites. It was a beautiful day so everyone was out and about.
We visited a popular site established in the 60's by hippies called Christiania. It was interesting to see to say the least.
My favourite part of the day was a place called Street Food. Basically, several venders 'food trucks' in a warehouse. What a concept. It was by the ocean so today was perfect. I was in 'Foodie Heaven'!! So many foods. So little time. We walked around several times trying to decide what to get. We finally settled on sharing the fish and chips. I took several pictures. What I liked is that most venders had demo plates for customers to see. It didn't help the decision making process. Everything looked soooooo fantastic. Our choice was perfect. Crispy fish. Fresh cut fries and mashed peas for the fries instead of ketchup. We relaxed outside for several hours enjoying the weather, conversation and music.
We bought some food at the grocery store to make dinner, ate and relaxed.
This is turning into a food adventure but I'm not complaining.
