After many horror stories we eagerly awaited our flight into Hanoi with Vietnam Airways. Our fears were heightened as the plane continually dropped during bad turbulence as we came in to land.
One thing that we thought we were prepared for was the taxi ride from the airport. Chaos broke our as taxi touts crowded us like paparazzi. We had nice calming melodies playing from the rear parcel shelf as scenes from the best of cops with cameras played out in front of us. When we arrived the price we had written down was disputed resulting in the cab driver shutting the boot on Lyds arm and us having to give an extra $2 just to get rid of him.
Once in Hanoi we booked into another Aussie hostel and a 3 day trip to Halong Bay and Cat Ba Island. We met some great people including some 'sound' lads from Ireland who orchestrated a 72 hour build up to St Patricks Day.
