We had a very early departure from Seoul , that meant that we had to take a taxi from the hotel at 04:30 since the trains, buses and metros did not run at that hour. We ordered the taxi the prior day just in case. But that was not a easy task. We got a tourist information desk to call for us and that seemed to be a good idea because they spoke for long in the phone and had to have a lot of informations before hand. But well , maybe it is something to expect , thinks a just done in a different way. Then late in the evening they called me on my Danish mobile to confirm that we really needed the taxi ( that was a very expensive phone call :-( ) But then again just policy, we thought... what we did not appreciate as much was the call we got again in morning at 03:20 where they needed to call us to tell us that the taxi would be there on time. That was quite annoying since we had the day before prepared all our stuff so we could sleep as long as possible. Irritating at 03:20 in the morning but quite funny afterwards.
The drive was on the other hand interesting since the driver was very talkative and spoke , despite still having a heavy Korean accent, a decent English. He normally also drove a lot of American soldiers from the Americans basses. He had a lot on his mind a told us anything from the time he was a successful business man in Hong Kong to the situation in Korea between the north and south.
We arrived in Tokyo and manage to find our hotel through the labyrinth they call a metro . It has improved thought since I was here last ( 10 years ago ) now 70 % of the very important information is written in English. So with a little guessing and a little luck we could find our way around. On the way home we had the obligatory Sushi which made the kids very happy.
At the hotel we ended by taking the day off and slept most of the day .
The day after we went to the famous Takas***a Street where fashion is the reason to live! Or sometimes the lac of fashion. Here you can find anything from Dracula look alike dress, totally worn down jeans painted in gold colour mixed with a 16 century shirt or just the typical baby doll/Manga look. In between all the clothing and dress-op stores there where as many Accessory stores …... Jessica and Sofie heaven ! Stores shaped like air planes with tons off completely indispensable stuff for your hair, your face, your purse, your shoes, your socks, your panties or any other thing you can attach an overpriced piece of s.... Well we ended op by buying socks as, thank god for that,we could not carry more thinks in our backpacks.
There was a big temple close by in a park so we went there. It was nice to see a temple at what did this better then all the other temples was that there were many weddings going on there so we could take a peek. It felt a little like a mix of Shogun and Memoires of a Geisha and we were in it :-) On the way back home we stopped in Shinjoku to see the famous neon light
.In the evening we ate Sushi which made the kids very happy.
The day after was spend on different markets and ,The Emperors Palace witch is not open for the public and some temples, ok to see but as you say in typical Japanese broken English " Nothing to home write is about " .Take a look in the Photo album under funny signs .
The last day we wanted to go out of the city and Mount Fuji an old volcano seemed interesting to visit. On the way out we went by the fish market but we arrived to late to see the infamous big fish , like man tall tuna and more. We saw a few fish displace outside the local restaurant meant to attract the eye of the curios tourists.
Then the travel to the Mount Fuji began, what we soon found out should become the never ending story. First we took a very expensive fast train to Odavara , it went very fast and I had to play nerd for a while and took my Desire phone so I could with the GPS track the speed …. 255 km/h I don't not know what was must fun the speed of the train or that I could track it. From here a other expensive train to Hakone Yumoto. Then and other very expensive mountain train to Gora. Then a very expensive funicular to Sounzam. Then another very expensive funicular to Togendai. We saw the Mount Fuji just for a second because it had become very clouded and since all this travelling had taken like a million year and 5 year income for middle-class Cambodian it was become dark as the time was almost 18 o'clock. But the best was still to come ….. now it was really cold at 1200 meters we were not dress for it and we new what awaited us to get back home.....
The trip home was actual not as bad but all and all it was a s***ty trip. Mostly because we were not well enough prepared.
Close to the hotel we found a sinister eating place, but it was overcrowded (god sign ) We had here the best and cheapest meal in Tokyo , nice way to leave.
Tomorrow we are of to the Hoooooooot Phillipines :-)
