Toms Intrepid Travels
So i finally departed the east coast and made my way inland....to the outback. Flying from Cairns with no clouds in the sky, you could see just how bloody empty the inside of this country is! And soon it became very red...hence why it is called the big red centre!
I arrived in Alice Springs to glorius sunshine, although not stiflingly hot anymore! I had an afternoon free, so just pottered about in the town centre for a bit. Here i saw just how many aborigines there are here...but sadly how distant from society they still seem. Very dirty, almost like tramps just wondering the streets. Sadly, it is mainly becuase they have been rejected from their real society in the countryside.
My 3 day safari camping trip round uluru, kings canyon and the Olgas was a great trip. It was absolutely bloody freezing at night...the people who slept outside in swags woke up with frost on the outside! However, with 3 layers and wrapped up in my sleeping bag...i was all good. It was great having camp fires aswell...they are surprisingly social! The actual rocks and monuments themselves were incredioble too, the scale of them just doesn't come out in the pictures! I think Kings Canyon was my favourite, cos it was a bit different.
I met some great people too, and we all had a luagh with team japan...who just smile and wave and go 'ahhh' at everything! Lol. YOu've gotta love the japanese.
