Arrived early morning in Nah Trang on the night bus and straight away hoped in to a taxi to take us to the centre where we had already ear marked a hotel. Probably the best accommodation we have had to date. Nah Trang has very much a western holiday destination vibe, a big beach, lots of high rise hotels and many different English/irish bars with happy hours that last from about 4pmm to midnight.
First was breakfast and the pub also did the best full English we had found on our whole trip, even rashers of bacon instead of the crispy or streaky rubbish! This was followed by our first trip to a beach and what a beach it was too. Around 3 kilometres long and nice soft sand all the way down. On the way to the beach we were collared by some easy riders who were offering to take us on a trip of our liking. This was some we had planned to do from the very moment we had read up about Vietnam back home. After much thought as to where we wanted to go and how much we were willing to spend we eventually end up booking a 3 day/2 night trip from Nah Trang finishing in Dalat. Will come back to this on another blog. We pretty much spent the whole rest of the day on the beach, it was too hard to persuade Zo to leave!Since it was Halloween we received many fliers detailing different parties going around town. Before we headed out for the evening I had the very important task of trying to fix Zo's hair straighteners (apparently we were not going unless I could). She had snapped one of the lengths of plastic that holds the ceramic iron.Managed to tape a splint to it using a chop stick from a set we had brought. We were later going to have to 'borrow' one from a restaurant so we could make up our set again. In the evening we decided to pop by one of the parties as there was a fancy dress competition going on there. There was standing room only and this was outside too looking through the windows. It was quite amazing some of the costumes some travellers were able to get their hands on! We also took Karina and Slava for their first ever Indian curry, was not the best I have ever had but it was good enough for them to be trying for their first one.We had about four courses for the price of about £4 and this included a beer!
The following day began much like the first we headed straight to the beach since the sun was shining. However my pasty white skin couldn't handle that much sun that quickly so I really began to feel the burn. Therefore, in the afternoon we took a trip to a natural hot springs, where we would take a bath in mud, was supposed to allow this to dry and then wash it off removing all the dead skin at the same time and then finally take a soak in the natural hot spring water, roughly about 40 degrees Celsius. That was the plan but it decided to rain just after the mud bath so there was no chance it was going to dry, we were more than happy just to shower and soak in the hot bath. That evening we hit happy hour at one of the bars and had a few drinks with Karina and Slava as we would be splitting the following morning as they had not decided to come with us with the Easy Riders!
