First stop back in the UK was Telford A&E accompanied by both Dads. We had quite a long wait and eventually got to see a Doctor who didn't even like looking at the photos of my injuries! He had a nurse change my dressings and we crashed out at Charlies place.
Next day I saw my local GP who promply turfed me to Lancaster for an orthapedic evaluation the next day.
He gave me a full set of X Rays and pronounced my bone injuries were healing fine but was not happy about the open wounds I had on my Hand since I had 3 screws in it. I was refered to Preston Plastic Surgery for the following day.
Doctors in Preston were actually really good and had a good look at the wounds before booking me in for skin grafts the following Monday.
I spent the weekend enjoying pretty good mobility on most of my limbs and was actually fairly active even with a massive dressing on my shoulder and Hand. Monday came and I got skin taken from my thigh grafted onto my shoulder and hand. Following the op I had to be really careful to restrict my movement as the grafts are really delicate and need time to take to the tissue below.
Next morning I was discharged with strict instructions to keep my shoulder still. So it was really boring week pretty much stuck in bed with the tele.
The next Monday was a pretty tense trip to Preston to have the grafts checked. As they peeled off the dressings (held in place by staples!) you could see a nice thin layer of pink skin where my wounds had been! Relieved I then saw some nurses who gave me a load of movements that I need to start doing to get my joints back working!
Thats pretty much my progress up to now! I'm still not "water tight" and its now been over three weeks since my last shower in Cambodia and baths arn't really cutting it! My joints are starting to improve with pretty much full movement everywhere appart from my Wrist and Knuckles which are still very sore.
Progress with the Insurance company is very slow as were going through their official complaints proceedure. We're not very impressed with the way we've been treated and hope to fight the case. That said I urge anyone reading this to check their policy before buying, especially the last line of the last paragraph as conveniently it is this section that my insurance company is hiding behind.
