We're back, it's been a few days since you have heard from us, but don't worry there is loads of pictures to keep you entertained for a few hours instead of doing any work!!
We made our way from Bangkok over the border to Siem Reap in Cambodia, bit of a nightmare journey, having to wait for other tourist who couldn't make their minds up where to get their visas sorted! Then we got ripped off at the exchange place for about 50 pounds! Not the best start to a country.
Anyway, the highlingt of the area is Angkor, a kingdom set up by the Khmer about 1000 years ago, but that was abandoned and left to turn back to jungle. We had a really good day although getting up at 4.30 am to be there for sunset didn't feel too good at the time! But as you'll see from the pictures it was definitely worth it. One of the best bits for me was a wild monkey coming up to eat out of the bin, real wild life! The temples are really impressive, especially the couple that they have left as they found them, so you get an idea as to how the jungle took over again.
After a long day there, we headed down to the capital Phnom Penh where we spent four days, mainly looking at sites and relaxing at our bungalow on the lake! We had a very cool tuk tuk driver who showed us around and made sure we got to see authentic cambodia. Firstly he took us to a hip hop concert with about 60,000 screaming cambodians, very funny, although I did nearly lose the tip of my big toe (you'll see it on the pictures!) The next night he said he was going to take us to karaoke but instead we ended up going to the wedding of his neice. This was very random, turning up at a wedding dressed in shorts and flip flops!! We were immediately the centre of attention, everyone wanted a picture with us or a dance. We even got to sit at the main table with the senior police and family!! We had a great night, but shula never did ge to sing! (Thank god!)
We've just got back to Bangkok today and are heading on a 14 hour bus to the south to hit the beach and the full moon party.
Have fun looknig at the pictures, wait till you see the overloaded lorry!!!
Speak to you in a few days.
Love D&S
