We made it to Laos! We set off yesterday on the bus from Chiang Rai to Chang Kong (They like their Changs over here; means elephant in Thai). We then caught the boat up to Pak Beng, which is a remote Laos village where they don't even have internet. Imagine that! (The Laos locals thought it was particularly hilarious when I asked where the internet was. They don't even have phone lines!) anyways, we stayed overnight in the village, before continuing on the boat up to Luang Prabong, which is where we are now (and I found the internet!) I cashed in a travellers cheque today in order to attain some of the Laos currency, which is kip. I came away with ninety eight notes... I felt like a millionaire! In fact, I had the equivalent of only 25 pounds! I need a bigger purse! The beer over here is the cheapest yet. Beer Lao comes in bottles of around 660ml, and costs around 40p! This seems like a wise investment to me! I'm off to invest, Bye for now Claire x
