Back in Bangkok. We haven't written a blog for ages. Apologies. And as a consequence we have travelled through an entire country without a blog entry.
We left Saigon on a bus that would take us to Phnom Penh, the Capital of Cambodia. Yet another currency (Riel) which they don't seem to use except to give you change. So we ended up with loads that we didn't want. This was also our first land border crossing. It took a long time to queue up and then go through both exiting Vietnam and entering Cambodia checkpoints. But we got to Phnom Penh and found a hostel and some beers by the river. (See picture of us on the massive sofas). Phnom Penh had a museum. The one thing we knew we could do in Phnom Penh was go to a shooting range. Our tuk-tuk driver seemed a bit perplexed though and stopped about 4 times to ask directions, once from a policeman. We arrived to a brilliant man saying 'Welcome'. A menu was offered on which was a selection of rifles and handguns. He also asked if we would like to shoot a chicken saying 'It's fun'. John fired an AK-47, Jamie shot an UZI, and Darius blasted a shotgun. It was absolutely fantastic. We have found ourselves because of this.
Siem Reap was our next destination, only a 6 hour bus trip away - easy. This is the home of Angkor Wat, the biggest temple in the world. We had about 5 hours there as we walked around the town for hours in the morning looking for our bus company to book our seat to get us to Bangkok. I shall let the pictures do the talking for Angkor Wat, its a beautiful place.
We spent the evening enjoying many buckets of alcohol and trying not to think about our mammoth bus journey to Bangkok the next day.
Gotta run.
Love JDJ
