We were met at our hotel early in the morning buy our charismatic guide Govinda Timalsina and our gentleman porter Niraj Pokhrel and we proceeded to board a bus with several other eager trekkers to Bhulbule in the Annapurna National Reserve. A very scenic but incredibly bumpy ride in a local bus were where we were joined by ever changing locals, fresh produce, mattresses and every other conceivable cargo you could imagine led us to our first stop and the beginning of an epic trek.
Our first day started with a casual stroll along a road in the foothills of the Himalayas, we meandered passed young children playing gleefully under waterfalls and adults toiling in the rice fields. We ended our first 7 hour trek with a 500 step climb over and under majestic waterfalls and dense jungle to the village of Syange. Our lungs working overdrive and the ever present dull ache of overworked leg muscles we seated ourselves beside a gorge 500 metres up with a thunderous waterfall for company and enjoyed a cold beer.
