WHITE WATER RAFTING IS THE BEST THING EVER!! Went on the Tully River yesterday and it was absolutly awesome!!! It has to be one of the best experiences ever!! It was one of those days that just got better and better. As I said I was a good swimmer (which is true!) they put me on the 'native boat' which was me and 4 Aussies and a Kiwi as a guide and we just had such a hoot! It was a laugh a second (more than a laugh a minute!). There were 4 boats out in total but as we were the loudest (and therefore the fun-est!) Ben (our guide) was trying to flip the boat over but he couldnt cos we were all so good at clinging on to the boat. I did jump off a 5 meter rock (sorry Mum!) but it was ace! We cruised down about 13 kilometers and it was full of twists and turns along the way - it did make me laugh though listening to the rest of my crew discuss how in Europe they shut down for 3 hours at lunch and how strange that was. It is amusing me that whenever someone asks me where Im from and finishes the sentence with 'Ahhh is it snowing?'! Mrs Moore's sudocream is working wonders on my burnt nose!! I got slightly wind burnt on the raft but luckily for me I have a 'work mum' looking out for me!
After the rafting we got back to the hostel and had a killer pool contest....I lost so I had to jump into the swimming pool (thankfully I wasnt wearing white!). But I decided that the person who won the contest should jump in with me, but that kinda backfired....he won a bungee jump, but he had done one already so gave me his prize....not sure Im gonna do it though!!! I will keep you updated on that!
Today has not been a good day (well they can't all be the best!). Went for a hot air balloon ride (which was really good) but then I went on the sky rail, and oh my god, so boring. I went to the village of Kurandu (I was on my own) which was basically a village trying to flog you all this local rubbish and then the boring sky rail. It reminded me of childhood holidays where the parents would insist that you go on a cultural tour of somewhere (Family members - remember the tree incident? Basically somewhere like Tenerife I was woken up when I was really poorly for my parents to make me look at the oldest tree on the island...honestly folks, I have seen a tree before and they are all the same) anyway today was like that. Although I did find two English girls in the bathroom who I wandered around with which was nice!! On the plus side back at the hostel I re-told my day, got some sympathy and I have someone to cook me some tea and we are off out to cheer me up! Always a bright side!
I did do something very out of character today though, I fed a kangaroo!!! Im normally so scared of all animals and I found myself in this little wildlife park (only kangaroos, crocodiles and koalas) and taking some feed in my hand and putting it out there for the skippy to take a munch! It was actually quite sweet!
Tomorrow I am kayaking and snorkling then its the great barrier reef the next day! Cannot wait for that!! Hope all is well with everyone, thank you for the emails, I will reply soon.
Carry on working hard y'all!!
