So I'm actually just being lazy, i've had ample opportunity to upload photos onto this, but just haven't so for that i'm sorry, but i'm just soooo busy doing things that it is the last thing on my mind.
Anywhoooo . . . had a couple more days at the beach, who could imagine that you could spend so much just lying on a sunlounger, but guess what you can. I paid 3 kids through school for a month with the amount of stuff that I bought of them, they are persistent I'll give them that, also got my legs and eyebrows threaded, an experience that I do not wish partake in again. Noone told me how much it would hurt.
Next day, to save me from skin cancer from the sun and to save my bank balance I decided to head for a jungle trek. There was 5 of us doing it, and we thought it would be a bit of a walk in the park to be honest. A 2 hour jungle trek, but there wasn't always a path and we were going up and up and up. And as they say, what goes up must come down. We struggled going up, we took a life time going down. We were holding onto vines that were detaching themselves from the trees as soon as we grabbed onto them. Not a single one of left that jungle unhurt, bruises, cuts and ant bites. Everytime we took a rest, which was often, the ants would crawl all over us, literally ants in our pants.
So bruises, cuts, a sore head from Debbie (who walked straight into a tree branch) so a well deserved rest on an isolated beach. Pure bliss . . . although the waves were very strong and you could be standing in the water, and with a wave be entirely covered, these were high. The injuries weren't over yet though. Some wise person decided we should jump of the jetty, that sounds like fun, and muppet here went first. Since the tide was so far in, we didn't really check the water level. A foolish thing I know, so jumping of the jetty, and hitting the bottom with not much effort, luckily walking away with only a tendor ego, until I climbed the steps to get me back up, and managed to cut my knee on them, blood trickling down my leg. Oh well I'll heal.
Stopped of at a pagoda on the way back into town, and got stalked by some little kids, one of them was sooooo cute, if i thought i would get away with it, and that I had enough room in my bag, she would have been coming with me, she was absolutly adorable.
Back to Phnom Penh to go to the things we missed the first time, like the musuem, that wasn't really my cup of tea and then to the royal palace. But what do know, they were having a party in there, and our invites got lost in the post so we were unable to go in. It was the main reason for going back there and we couldn't even get in, raging!!! We did however go to a lovely restaurant which is run by the homeless children, where they get their training and help applying for jobs, so did my bit for society.
With our bus tickets already booked for the next day, we had to choice but to leave having only seen the palace from the outside, it did look pretty though. So a bus to Kampong Cham (sp) where the intention had been just to do a cycle round the town, but i hadn't been feeling to flush so decided to spend the day catching up on some well deserved rest. After a well deserved rest headed out for to our tuk tuk drivers house, as he had invited us to dinner, which was lovely and very traditional, however still not feeling my best I threw it all up in his garden, oops.
Kampong Cham was only a stop over, and we headed for a bus the next day to Siem Reap. Town just seems like any other to be honest, and could be anywhere in the world, and since I still had/have a dodgy stomach I didn't do much with the remainder of the day, except go to a traditional dance thing, at one of the restaurants, a def must since the show is free and the food is very reasonably priced.
The reason everyone goes to Siem Reap is for Angkor Wat. Which we tackled today. To put it into some kind of scale, you can buy a 7 day pass for the complex, and we were trying to do as much as we could in one day, so it was always going to be caotic. With an unbelievably early start - 5.00am - we watched the sunrise over the angkor wat temple, then off to see some ancient swimming pools, the hidden buddha temple, and others that i can't remember and this is all before lunch. Another amazing temple that we did go visit was the one that is featured in tomb raider, and we got to see that. After lunch we visited more temples (totally templed out now) and also a landmine musuem, which was a bit of letdown, however the money went towards helping the victims of the landmine accidents, so another good deed done for the day.
Early night tonight I think, as I have been up for what feels like forever. Plans, if I feeling better, since i'm still not holding any food down (went to the pharamist, and have been given something) is to go to a floating village with real pirates - or so i've heard, then of to Thailand after that.
The days just seem to be flying past, and i'm going to be home before i know it :s back to reality, never a good thing lol. Just going to have to cherish everyday for the next month until then
